Some of you have asked me to tell what kind of camera am I using. To tell it openly, I am not a pro and do not like people saying that without some semi-profi device you cannot take a good picture. I am convinced the picture is always a combination of camera, photographer, situation and idea. Sometimes you cannot make a nice picture no mater what kind of camera you have, when there is no idea.
I have started long time ago with my first digital camera Hewlett & Packard HP 735C (3 MPix resolution). This was a typical low end bought as the first digital camera. I used this camera for taking details of helicopters as well as of pictures of whole aircraft. In despite of generally low quality I managed to reach very nice pictures using tripod and in several of my books you can find dozens of pictures made by this camera! I believe I am probably one of very few authors using pictures from low-end for few dollars. Anyway, It made over 25 000 pictures with it.
After my HP camera I bought Panasonic FZ-50 ultrazoom in 2006 and since I bought it, I was amazed by it. There is no doubt some parameters are much worse than those of DSLR cameras, but it is compact and ready for use in almost any conditions. To compare result with price, it was excellent choice. I also appreciated no need to carry a bag with lenses and other stuff. Most of my pictures were made by this camera. Unfortunately this year I had to replace it as the FZ-50 was slowly but surelly dying. I made over 100 000 pictures with it on four continents in various conditions, so I believe it deserves its rest in peace.
My previous camera I have selected after careful consideration of available choices. I have tried many DSLRs, but later decided for another ultrazoom as it is more maching with my requirements for maximum flexibility. I have selected Fujifilm HS50. 1000 mm zoom, extremely fast photoburst (16 pictures per second), HD video (with 420 fps in minimized resolution), nice resolution and full manual control possibilty amazed me. One of the main reasons for this camera was the hand-moved zoom I like due to it saves battery (700 pictures on one charging). I only hope it will serve even better than my good old FZ-50.
Wow, the time has changed everything. Fuji was great camera, but its picture drawing somehow irritated me sometimes. And then Panasonic introduced the full scale chip FZ 1000 with nice zoom. So, this is my current camera having all the crazy features as 4K video or WiFI controls. I had a chance to test the camera during SUn and Fun show and it works perfect! Wonderful light sensitivity, great speed and nice drawing of the picture. I can only recommend it!!!!
Well, now you know the tool I use. It is not interesting how much expansive camera you have, it is about you, your ideas and the right situiation...
